“Custom/Modular Traditional Wine Racking”

Collector’s Edition (CE) was designed as a traditional wood wine racking series meant to bridge the gap between modular kit racks and true custom.

CE is a hybrid modular/custom product. Modular in that you piece together module components. Custom in that it offers a variety of specialty options, and that racking modules can be easily adjusted to cater to your room size. Specifically, racking is designed in smaller component sections and is intended to be trimmed on site to achieve a near custom look.

As with all of our wine racks, we only use premium wood species that are all completely inert (i.e., they will not release any fumes that could damage your wine). CE offers a lacquer finish for all racking and millwork, and it is a nice way to not only bring out the highlights in the wood species of your choice but also preserve your wine cellar.

Ultimately, CE represents very good value. Clients contemplating CE should also be aware of Genuwine’s Elite Kit Rack modular racking given that they are priced similarly.

Frequently Asked Questions

1)         What is the cost of CE compared to Genuwine’s Elite Kit Rack?

A straight apples-for-apples racking comparison would reveal CE as slightly less expensive. However, when you factor in CE’s options, such as arches, shelves, counters, etc., a well-rounded CE cellar would generally come in higher than a well-rounded Elite Kit Rack modular wine cellar

2)         How are racking components trimmed on site?

CE is shipped in modular components. Racking components can be easily cut on site and the spacer bars moved to accommodate varying heights. This allows them to be fitted for a more custom look. Bottle capacity will of course drop when racks are trimmed.

3)         Can I add Sommelier Select components and/or Metal Series components to my Collector’s Edition cellar?

4)         Can I modify the size of the millwork in the CE catalogue? Is there an upgrade cost involved?

Yes. Charges may apply as we require additional design and build time.

5)         Can I install the racking directly in front of a glass wall?

Collector’s Edition is designed to be installed directly to a wall or solid surface. We do not recommend installing in front of glass. If you require wine storage in front of a glass wall, we recommend Label Ladder or Ring.

6)         I want the crown mould to touch the ceiling, but the bottle spacing doesn’t allow for it. What can I do?

Extra filler boards or flatstock crown can be purchased for building up the crown. Custom options can also be utilized for large spaces. A custom quote can be provided.

7)         How can I add lighting to my CE racking?

Collector’s Edition is designed to be used with LED lighting. Light valance and LED packages can be included in your project.

8)         Since Collector’s Edition uses modular design components, can I add or remove components to suit my needs after the cellar is installed?

Yes. Most pieces are interchangeable: bins, individual bottle racks, magnum racks, etc. Reconstruction of the cellar may be required depending on where the components are located, and how the modules have been installed.

Please note that colour of wood changes over time, so new pieces may not initially match the old pieces.

9)         I do not like the look of fillers in the room; what can I do to minimize fillers?

Fillers are more likely in cellars with modular and semi modular racking. If a room size can be adjusted before construction to fit racking standards, fillers can be avoided. Sometimes modules can be stacked differently to minimize fillers. Corner fillers, where racking meets at a 90 degree angle, are almost always needed, but are not as visually noticeable.
