{Week Seven} Wine Cellar of the Week

Welcome back to another weekly installement of "Wine Cellar of the Week"!

At Genuwine Cellars, we pride ourselves as being industry leaders in the field of cutting edge wine cellar design and engineering.

In {Week Four} Wine Cellar of the Week - http://www.genuwinecellars.com/cellar-of-the-week-four - we introduced you to our authentic design: The Genuwine Cube.  However before the Cube was realized, there was The Genuwine Curve.

Often imitated, never duplicated....

Over 9 years ago, a client came to us and requested a Genuwine Cellar design to mimic the feeling of approacing and entering a wine barrel...and The Genuwine Curve was born.

Long lines of delicately arched racking house wine bottles double deep at the topmost point and slim down to a single row of angled bottle display.

The effect creates an impact ideal for both functional storage as well as a spectacular feature with which to entertain in front of.  Even the custom display at the back of the cellar called for a curve with solid arched drawers and a flat stock base that tips the aetsthetic of this cellar towards a fine blend of contemporary and traditional architecture.

Since it's inception, it has been so well received by both public and private audiences that we made the move to set the standard for this unique and distinctive line of Genuwine wine racking.  We have even manipulated the curve to accomodate what we have affectionately termed the "Curve on Curve."

Today, wine cellar manufacturers the world over have taken note and set to design and re-create their own brand of The Genuwine Curve.

"Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery".  Charles Caleb Colton

We couldn't be more flattered!

{Week Six} Wine Cellar of the Week

Welcome to our weekly installment of "Wine Cellar of the Week"!

Up until now, we've only talked about residential cellars here on the blog, but that's not all we do here at Genuwine Cellars. We've got a great collection of commercial wine cellars that we've designed for some great places in and out of Winnipeg.

Have you been to Wasabi-Sabi for a glass of wine yet?

WCOTW5a

This round of our Wine Cellar of the Week features one of the hottest sushi restaurants in town: Wasabi-Sabi on Taylor Ave in Winnipeg. What makes this place even more special? You guessed it, the stunning wine cellar that graces the bar & dining room. It truly has become one of the best features of the restaurant. The client wanted the feel of a giant aquarium in the centre of the space, but filled with wine instead of fish! You can't help but be drawn to this beautiful centrepiece

The wine cellar itself is a fully climate controlled space, ensuring proper storing temperatures for the wine. The wood is stained & lacquered, truly giving it a modern finished look alongside it's full glass enclosure with doors on both sides. "Form follows function" is what led this design...the Vintage View metal wine racking is mounted on its side to allow for access on either the bar side or the dining room side.

The cellar itself acts as a great dividing "wall"! The juxtaposition of the use of space between the private dining room and the bustling bar has been cleaverly separated by this wonderful wine cellar. Another great feature, which really stands out is the brilliant coloured LED at the base of the cellar. What a great theatrical design aspect to the restaurant!

You WANT a bottle from that cellar!

The owner explains to us that since putting in the wine cellar, his turnover for wine has increased exponentially. The cellar has actually paid for itself in wine sales. And above all, it's genuinely a great conversation piece in the restaurant. So if you haven't been, I urge you to head down to Wasabi-Sabi on Taylor for some amazing sushi and even more fabulous wine!

Stay tuned next week for another featured wine cellar!

See you in the cellar...

The Cube - Bottle Stacking

Do you have one of our beautiful Cube cellars or Are you in the process of building one with us? Or are you just starting to plan ways in which you can fit this cellar into your home or restaurant?

The Cube is without a doubt one of Genuwine Cellars' most innovative and unique product lines, and provides the most contemporary rack for any wine collection. Since the cube has many square and unique compartments, it is by far the most versatile type of wine racking on the market today. The cube offers the perfect storage for any size of bottle, decanter, case or even stemware and it's extremely stable and strong. Since the cube has a lot of open spaces, the best way to fill the cube to its maximum capacity is by stacking your wine bottles, which can be tricky if not done carefully. To keep your bottle stacking even and stable here is a list of tips:

Cube 1

-Only stack the same types of wine bottles on top of one another. Mixing up your wine bottle types as you stack higher can get risky.

-When removing bottles always take any bottles stacked at the top first. In a situation where you have a row of bottles filling an entire shelf in the cube and one bottle is sitting on top of that particular row, removing any bottles from the bottom row will cause the stack to roll and shift.

-When stacking bottles in the cube, make sure you stack the entire width of the shelf one bottle high before stacking anything on top of that row. If you don’t fill the entire width of the shelf first, placing bottles on top of that row will cause the bottom row to roll and shift.

Listed below are three common bottle types and the instructions/recommendations for stacking them properly so they remain stable as they pile on top of each other.
